Project Overview: At a major freight port in South-East Asia, the existing crane boom connectors had long been subjected to corrosion from sea winds and salt spray, as well as impact from alternating loads. This resulted in rapid cracking and wear of the components, leading to persistently high maintenance costs. We custom-manufactured high-strength, corrosion-resistant alloy components for the client and carried out the upgrade and replacement.
Product Specifications: Low-alloy high-strength forgings, with a yield strength of ≥690 MPa and a marine salt spray corrosion resistance rating of 5,000 hours.
Scope of Collaboration: Provision of alloy material selection, composition optimisation, supply of forged components, and technical support for heat treatment processes.
Benefits: The service life of the jib components has been extended by a factor of 2.3, the frequency of equipment downtime for maintenance has been significantly reduced, and the stability of port crane operations has been markedly improved.
